30202 – CARTAGENA
The origins of the Port of Cartagena date back to Roman times, when Carthage Nova was a major commercial and military hub. Its development accelerated in the 18th century with the growth of the shipbuilding industry. At the end of the 19th century, the port was transformed with the construction of the La Curra and Navidad docks, as well as the Alfonso XII dock, which boosted maritime trade. In the 20th century, the installation of Spain’s first oil refinery in the Escombreras Valley consolidated its role as a key industrial and economic hub.
